Aim
Having close relations with disciplines such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, communication bring in the department an interdisciplinary attribution. Benefiting from so many disciplines increases the importance of public relations and makes the training program of this discipline more comprehensive. In the initial years of the program courses focusing on social sciences are given to develop students’ general culture. During the last two years students are intensively given practical courses so that they can put their theoretical knowledge and gains into practice. Also, after the first year, students are provided with the opportunity to study with the elective courses in accordance with their own interest.

The Department of Public Relations and Advertising has been established to train subject specialists for private and state sectors. The department contributes to the public relations sector by giving specialist education on advertising, presentation, and surveys on public opinion.

The main objective of the Public Relations Department in the light of scientific research

Message from the Chairperson of Department
The Department of Public Relations and Publicity has started its education life in 1997 within the faculty of public relations and publicity discipline with the gaining importance in both academic and professional parties.

Since its inception, it has been the main target of educating individuals who are equipped with the necessity of academic and professional life.

Departmental education is capable of responding to these needs, catching global developments, has effective communication skills, advances in plan and strategy, follows the changes and developments in the relevant field and renews itself.

Public Relations and Publicity courses within the body of public relations as well as public relations and promotion, as well as corporate communication, marketing communication, persuasion, propaganda, including the techniques of political communication, advertising, public relations research, complementary courses such as new media and social media applications it is hosting. Based on the fact that the discipline of public relations is multifaceted, there are academic and practical courses and related practices.

Within the department, students complete theoretical and basic department courses in the first years. In the years that follow, they find the opportunity to apply on the basis they have learned.

Especially in communication and public relations workshops established in the courses allowing students to practice, students can have the ability to express themselves in this area, to prepare creative works and to present projects.

With these studies aiming at holistic thinking, the graduates of the department come up as productive and creative graduates who can find a place on the global scale as well as researching, renewing themselves and adapting easily to innovations.

Graduates of Public Relations and Publicity have the opportunity to progress in the academic field, but they can easily find employment in public and private sectors. The interdisciplinary nature of public relations and publicity activities cause many different areas to be covered.
Therefore, graduates can easily find opportunities to work in institutions operating in different fields.

Corporate communication departments, public relations and advertising agencies, digital agencies, media planning units, such as private sector, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, local governments and global-scale international organizations can find jobs in many different areas.

Mission: To educate graduates who are able to express themselves, to be productive and creative, to produce solutions and to design and implement effective communication campaigns at the national and international level in the field of public relations and publicity.

Vision: In recent years, especially in the areas of information and communication technologies in parallel with the changes and developments in the field of public relations and publicity can capture, transfer their knowledge, and useful for the community, to educate individuals who are respectful of ethical values.
