Assist. Prof. Dr. Özen Çatal completed high school education at Nicosia Turkish High School, and her undergraduate and graduate education at Eastern Mediterranean University. Çatal, who completed her doctorate at the European University of Lefke, has professional experience in various branches of the media sector. In 2002, in the Aydin Dogan Young Communicators Competition, Catal was awarded the second prize in the audio category, and in 2008, she was awarded at the 11th Kutlu Adali Press Awards. Having worked as a reporter, news anchor, program producer and presenter in various Radio, TV and Newspapers in the Northern Cyprus media sector, Çatal worked as a press consultant at the Ministry of Agriculture for three years and then worked as the Press and Public Relations Manager of a private university. After completing her doctorate education, Çatal started teaching in universities in the field of communication. She is working as a full-time lecturer of the Journalism Department of YDU Faculty of Communication.
