Prof. Dr. Fevzi KASAP

Born in 1972 in Cyprus, Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap completed his primary and secondary education in Cyprus and his higher education at Izmir Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cinema and Television. After completing his bachelor's degree in 1995, he completed his master's degree (1997) in the Department of Cinema and TV, affiliated to the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university and his doctorate (2005) in the Department of Cinema and TV, affiliated to the Institute of Fine Arts. In 2012, Kasap was appointed as an assistant professor, associate professor in 2015 and professor in 2021.

In 1997, he started his career at Near East University as Izmir Representative and continued as Aegean - Mediterranean Regional Representative and Turkey Coordinator.

After completing his doctorate education, Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, who worked as a full-time faculty member at NEU, was appointed as the Head of the Department of Radio, TV and Cinema and Director of Publicity and Public Relations at NEU Faculty of Communication in 2007.

Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap has published articles in various newspapers and magazines, as well as works in the field of cinema and television. He has many documentary films that have been shown in national and international film festivals and television channels. "Brain Drain- 1995", "History of Turkish Cinema- 2014", "Ahde Vefefa- Hope Road Erenköy -2014", "Last Women of the Word: Bedia Hanım -2017" documentary films are some of them.

He also produced and presented the current affairs programs "Hayat Sanat" and "Education and Life in the Near East", which were broadcast for a long time on various television channels broadcasting in the TRNC. He is currently producing and presenting the "Hayat Sanat" program broadcast on Bayrak Radio.

Having scientific publications in SSCI, SCOPUS, ESCI and many international refereed scientific journals, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap continues his scientific studies in the fields of cinema, television, new media, culture and art. His research on his field is titled as "Cyprus Themed Films in the Formation of the Culture of Peace: A Review on Films Produced in the 1960-2000 Period", "Reality Shows on TV in the Context of Media Violence Relations" and co-authored "Communication and Oral History I: Turkish - Greek Cypriot Common Life in Cyprus".

He has organized many national and international film screenings and exhibitions. He has also participated in film festivals as jury president and member. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap is on the Scientific Board of the International Turkic World Press Symposium and the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Art, Culture and Communication. Prof. Dr. Kasap is also the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Social Sciences and Art Research. He is also a member of the scientific, organizing and executive boards of various congresses and symposiums. There are national and international books edited by Kasap.

In addition to being the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Cinema Symposium, which has been held continuously since 2020; He is also the director of the International NEU Short Film and Photography Competition.

Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, who serves as the Head of the Department of Radio, TV and Cinema, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Communication, Near East University and the Head of the Communication Research Center, gives many undergraduate and graduate courses in his field.
